Home Energy Check-Up

With the Home Energy Check-Up, one of our participating contractors will perform a detailed analysis of your home's energy use, then provide you with a report of easy, cost-effective ways to reduce your energy usage. Based on the number of energy-saving measures installed, you’ll qualify for a rebate (up to $250) — which could cover the full price of the check-up*! See details below.

The Home Energy Check-Up program is closed to new participants. To be eligible for a rebate, the service must have been completed by a participating contractor by December 24, 2016 and the rebate application must be either postmarked or submitted online by February 7, 2017.

It is the responsibility of the customer to ensure all additional requested documents are submitted along with your application package for the rebate to be successfully processed.

Benefits of Participation

A home energy check-up can help reduce costs while improving the efficiency of your home. Your contractor will install a variety of simple energy-saving measures on the day of their visit such as:

  • Compact fluorescent light bulbs
  • Efficient faucet aerators and showerheads
  • Water heater pipe insulation
  • Door weather stripping
  • Smart outlet strips

With these easy changes, you can enjoy energy savings and a more comfortable home all year long.

Eligibility

This Program is open to Dominion Virginia Power residential customers living in single-family detached residences or single-family attached residences (townhomes). The customer must be on a residential rate schedule. Homes must be at least five years old. Customers must be responsible for the electric bill and either own the home or be able to secure permission from the owner to perform the repairs or improvements recommended. Apartments (high rise, garden or townhouse), condos and mobile homes are not eligible for the Home Energy Check-Up Program. Gas/propane/oil/etc. appliances are not eligible for measures in this Program. Customers who do not have all-electric homes are eligible for some measures as indicated on the measure chart.

Rebate Details

You will receive a confirmation email the day your rebate information is received. After you receive this email, you can check your rebate status using Manage Your Account or by calling 1-888-366-8280. Your rebate check will be mailed directly to you, unless you choose to assign the rebate directly to your contractor. Go here for terms and conditions.
